I tested some tools and unfortunately I was not satisfied with the results. to simply replace the single original tileset, youll need to replace the tilesheet pictures with pictures of the same name and same format, but this will of course change all maps ever done in the project. To have more than one tileset youll need a script for VX, and then the use depends on the script. I do not know if there is any documentation about the format used by RPG Maker.īut I was happy to know that these tools exist.Įven though I have photos of my RPG Maker MV maps and tilesets, the import failed. VX has only one tileset that cannot be changed by default. Since the 1080 cannot fit as multiple of the tilesize, using that as a screen size will result in the distortions I wrote about. It would be a dream if Tiled had some kind of plugin that would allow map reading directly from the most popular platforms like RPG Maker MV, Game Maker Studio 2 and Unity. But one of the currently more common monitor screen sizes is 1920x1080 - that would be 60x33.75 tiles in Ace-size. Convert old RPG Maker tilesets to RPG Maker MV tileset format. I would be willing to pay for these plugins. Supported tilesets (with varying degrees of success): 95 Sim 95 (97) Alpha for Mobile 2000/2003 XP VX/Ace It also includes an option to define the size of the tile so you can try convert non rpg maker tilesets. I own licenses of RPG Maker Vx Ace / MV and Game Maker Studio 2 and would like to import many maps created in RPG Maker for GM2. Unfortunately, there is nothing that makes the communication between these platforms. This would be an interesting resource for anyone who wants to port a project from one platform to another. I thought Tiled would be the point of intersection between several platforms. Since RPG Maker MV went half price on Steam, I finally was able to afford the program. I see that Tiled can even export to several game creation tools. I converted everything from RPG Maker VX Ace I could do following this video. It would be wonderful if Tiled could read directly the map files of the most popular tools.
